Sikkim: BRO, Local Officials Inspect Site Following Road Breach On Chungthang-Lachen Route

Chungthang, April 6: Authorities carried out a joint site inspection at Taram Chu to assess a breach in the road formation that has led to the closure of the Chungthang–Lachen road axis.

The inspection team included Anant Jain, District Collector of Mangan; L. B. Chettri, Superintendent of Police; Arun Chettri, SDM Chungthang; Chandan Chhetri, SDPO Chungthang; along with the SHO of Chungthang and AE, BAC.

Officials from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), including the Commander and Officer Commanding of 86 RCC, who maintain and restore the road, participated in the assessment.

The visit aimed to evaluate the extent of damage, identify immediate risks, and explore measures for early restoration of traffic. Authorities issued directions to the concerned agencies to take prompt action to reopen the road while ensuring safety.
