Sikkim CM Attends State-Level Education Conference, Emphasizes Skill-Based Learning

Gangtok, April 1: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Wednesday attended the State-Level Education Conference on “Developing Human Capital for Viksit Sikkim” at Chintan Bhawan.

Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the importance of education in shaping the state’s future and said that the success of the education system should be measured by the lives it transforms.

The Chief Minister emphasized strengthening government schools to make them the preferred choice for families, promoting quality, innovation, and trust. He advocated a shift from degree-focused learning to skill-based education that encourages innovation, entrepreneurship, and confidence among students.

Tamang also stressed continuous teacher development, strong institutions, and the integration of emerging technologies to build an education system that is both equitable and globally competitive. He urged stakeholders to work together to make Sikkim a benchmark for educational excellence.
