Gangtok, May 15: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay has condemned the omission of Sikkim from a map of India published in The Hindu newspaper’s May 13, 2025 edition, terming it a serious and unacceptable error.

In a statement released by the Chief Minister’s Office, the omission was described as “not a mere oversight, but a grave mistake that undermines the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation.” The statement noted that the incident is particularly hurtful as it coincides with Sikkim’s celebration of 50 years of Statehood.

The Chief Minister stated, “Sikkim is an integral part of India, with its special identity protected under Article 371F of the Constitution. Excluding it from the national map is both inaccurate and an affront to the people of Sikkim and the unity of the Republic.”

He urged The Hindu and all media organizations to take responsibility for representing the nation accurately and respectfully, and called for an immediate clarification and corrective action.
