Sikkim CM Leads Rally To Mark Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas In Gangtok

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang led a rally in Gangtok on Wednesday to observe Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas, marking the 50th anniversary of the imposition of the Emergency in 1975. The rally commenced at MG Marg and concluded at Manan Kendra.

The observance was held in line with a Gazette notification issued by the Government of India on July 12, 2024, officially designating June 25 as Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas to honour those who endured and resisted the Emergency.

Joining the Chief Minister were the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, senior officials, and students.

The event aimed to raise awareness about constitutional rights and emphasize the need to safeguard democratic values and the principles enshrined in the Constitution.
