Prem Singh Tamang attended a two-day religious programme in Upper Martam on Wednesday and took part in the foundation-laying ceremony of the Ugyen Wodsel Pemacholing Monastery.
During the event, the Chief Minister thanked the organising committee for the invitation and offered prayers in the presence of Kyabje Dungzin Garab Rinpoche.
According to Tamang, the programme included religious rituals such as Jinsek (fire offering) and Tsewang (long-life blessing), which are performed in Buddhist traditions for purification, wellbeing, and the removal of obstacles.
He stated that monasteries play a role in preserving Buddhist traditions and serve as places for prayer, meditation, and spiritual learning. Tamang said the foundation of the monastery marks the beginning of a centre expected to support religious activities and cultural practices in the area.
The Chief Minister also expressed appreciation to the organisers, the local community, and devotees involved in arranging the event.
He further offered prayers seeking blessings from Gautama Buddha and Guru Padmasambhava for peace and wellbeing.
