Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang Leads Plantation Drive On World Environment Day 2025

Gangtok, Jun 5: On the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang participated in a mass plantation drive on Thursday. The event was conducted in the presence of Governor Om Prakash Mathur and the Chief Minister’s mother, as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The plantation drive will continue across the state until July 15, reflecting Sikkim’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability. CM Tamang acknowledged the Prime Minister’s support and guidance in promoting this initiative.

Since the current government’s formation, Sikkim has seen an increase of 5.19 square kilometers in its forest cover. The Chief Minister also praised the people of Sikkim and the Forest and Environment Department for their active involvement in enhancing the state’s biodiversity.
