Pakyong, Feb 5: In an effort to empower girls and promote environmental awareness, the Women and Child Development Department of the Government of Sikkim organized an educational tour and bird-watching program for the girl students of PM Shri Dikling Senior Secondary School in Pacheykhani, Pakyong District, under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative.

The students were guided by bird-watching expert Suraj Khulal, who introduced them to various bird species in their natural habitat, deepening their understanding of biodiversity and conservation. The educational tour also included field studies and awareness sessions, offering the students a well-rounded learning experience beyond the classroom.

The initiative, led by DD/SWO Dikit Lepcha and Social Welfare Inspector Chewang Cheden Bhutia, aimed to boost the confidence of young girls and broaden their educational perspectives. Teacher Sang Doma Yonzone accompanied the students during the tour.

Such programs are essential in equipping girls with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed and thrive in society.
