Gangtok, Jan 17: Five people were killed when a vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Sikkim’s Gyalshing district on Thursday night, police said.
The car, carrying five occupants, crashed from the Ratomatey Cliff, plunging about 500 feet into the gorge. The vehicle was traveling from Gyathang to Upper Chongrang at the time of the accident.
Local residents informed the authorities, and the bodies of all five victims were recovered on Friday morning. The deceased were identified as residents of Upper Arithang in the Yuksom-Tashiding constituency of West Sikkim.
