Sikkim Governor Inaugurates Dialysis Unit At Jorethang CHC

Namchi, Jan 14: The Governor of Sikkim, Om Prakash Mathur, on Wednesday inaugurated the newly established Dialysis Unit at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Jorethang. The Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Singh Tamang, was present during the ceremony.

The event was attended by Ministers G T Dhungel and Raju Basnet, MLAs Madan Cintury and L N Sharma, Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba, AYUSH Chairman Manoj Pradhan, Secretary of the Health & Family Welfare Department Tshewang Gyachho Bhutia, and other senior officials, including the District Collector of Namchi and medical officers from the region.

The Dialysis Unit is equipped with seven modern dialysis beds and will initially operate in a single shift, with plans to expand to two shifts based on patient demand. The unit will be supervised by Dr Abhishek Gautam from Sir Thutob Namgyal Memorial (STNM) Hospital, supported by the hospital’s team of medicine specialists.

During the inauguration, the Governor also flagged off ambulances from CHC Jorethang to the District Hospital, Namchi. The ambulances, provided by ALKEM Pharmaceuticals under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, aim to strengthen emergency healthcare services in the district.
