Gangtok, Dec 16: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has reaffirmed the state government’s steadfast commitment to securing the inclusion of 12 left-out communities in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) list. The Chief Minister made this statement during the inaugural meeting of the Sikkim State High-Level Committee, formed to advocate for the inclusion of these communities under the Constitution of India.

In a social media post, Tamang emphasized the government’s unwavering efforts, pointing to a resolution passed by the Sikkim Legislative Assembly in January 2021, which supports the demand. He also highlighted ongoing engagements with national leaders, including the Prime Minister and Home Minister, and expressed confidence that positive responses indicate that the inclusion of these communities is within reach.
