Sikkim kicked off its Ranji Trophy 2025-26 campaign on Wednesday with a home match against Manipur at the Sikkim Cricket Ground, Rangpo. The match marks Sikkim’s participation in the domestic first-class tournament conducted annually by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Sikkim has been competing in the Ranji Trophy since the 2018-19 season, following full membership approval from the BCCI.
The opening day was attended by Director General of Police Akshay Sachdeva, Secretary of IPRD Annapurna Alley, Managing Director of SBS Phurba Wangdi Bhutia, and SICA President Tika Subba. Representatives from sports associations, SICA members, stakeholders, and members of the public were also present.
The 91st edition of the Ranji Trophy, beginning October 15, features 38 teams divided into Elite and Plate Divisions. Sikkim competes in the Plate Division along with Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Meghalaya, and Mizoram. Each team will play five league matches, with the top two teams advancing to the Plate Division final in January 2026.
Sikkim’s 2025-26 schedule includes three home matches and two away games. Following the Rangpo fixture, Sikkim will face Meghalaya in Shillong from October 25–28, Mizoram in Anand, Gujarat, from November 1, and conclude its league matches at home against Bihar (November 8–11) and Arunachal Pradesh (November 16–19). All matches are being officiated by SICA umpires.
