Sikkim Officials Selected For BWF World Junior Badminton Championships 2025

The Badminton Association of Sikkim (BAS) has achieved a historic milestone with key nominations for the upcoming BWF World Junior Badminton Championships 2025.

Sukanta Das, General Secretary of BAS, has been officially nominated as a member of the BWF and BAI Organising Committee for the championship. Additionally, national umpires Sameer Gurung and Tshering Doma Bhutia have been appointed as Technical Officials by the Technical Officials Committee of the Badminton Association of India (BAI).

The championships will be held in Guwahati, Assam, from October 6 to 19, 2025, at the National Centre of Excellence. The event will feature the Suhandinata Cup (Mixed Team Championships) from October 6 to 11, followed by individual events from October 13 to 19. This marks the first time India is hosting the tournament since 2008, when it was held in Pune.

The tournament will bring together the world’s top junior badminton talent, highlighting emerging stars and showcasing India’s growing prominence in the sport. The BWF President has praised the facilities in Guwahati, calling the city an ideal venue for the championship.

For the Badminton Association of Sikkim, the nominations underscore the state’s increasing contribution to Indian badminton and represent a moment of immense pride.
