Sikkim: Pakyong PHC Gets New Ambulance Under NHIDCL CSR Initiative

Pakyong, Feb 5: Pakyong Primary Health Centre (PHC) received a new Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance on Thursday through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL).

The ambulance was formally handed over by NHIDCL Executive Director Ashok Kumar Saha to District Collector Rohan Agawane at the District Administrative Centre, Pakyong. The District Collector subsequently handed it over to the Chief Medical Officer of Pakyong PHC. The initiative aims to strengthen emergency healthcare services and enhance medical outreach in the district.

Under its CSR programme for 2025–26, NHIDCL focuses on promoting sustainable development in North-Eastern regions, with key interventions in healthcare, sanitation, child nutrition, and skill development through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) scheme.

District Collector Rohan Agawane expressed gratitude to NHIDCL, noting that the ambulance addresses an important healthcare need in Pakyong and will particularly benefit residents of rural and remote areas.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Madanmani Dhakal also appreciated the support, highlighting its role in improving healthcare delivery in the district.

DPO Pakyong TR Chettri and officials from Pakyong PHC were also present at the handover ceremony.
