The 7th edition of The Hindu BusinessLine Changemaker Awards 2025 was held on Friday in Mumbai, recognising individuals, organisations, and initiatives that have driven transformative change across society, the economy, and the environment.
Sikkim participated as the State Partner for the event, marking a significant engagement with the awards. A short documentary on the state was screened during the ceremony, showcasing its scenic landscapes and unique cultural appeal. The partnership highlighted Sikkim’s ongoing efforts to contribute to India’s development and position itself prominently on the national stage.
The event was attended by top executives, dignitaries, and senior Ministers from the Government of India. Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, was the chief guest. In his address, Puri praised the awards for recognising changemakers nominated by readers, emphasising the importance of acknowledging individuals and organisations that drive meaningful change.
The awards were presented across multiple categories. The Changemaker of the Year Award was given to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence. The Iconic Changemaker of the Year Award went to the Azim Premji Foundation, and the Chairperson’s Award was presented to eVidyaloka, a Bangalore-based NGO. Other winners included Impulse NGO Network, Shillong, in Social Transformation; Bhasini, National Language Translation Mission in Digital Transformation; and Girijan Cooperative Corporation’s Araku Valley Coffee in Financial Transformation.
The Young Changemaker Award was conferred on Kalyani Shinde, founder of Godaam Innovations, Nashik, and Anil Pradhan and Vaishali Sharma, founders of the Young Tinker Foundation.
The jury featured eminent leaders including former RBI Governor Dr D Subbarao, former Tata Sons Brand Custodian Harish Bhat, and MD & CEO of Aditya Birla Sun Life MF AMC A Balasubramanian.
The organisers concluded the ceremony by expressing gratitude to the Government of Sikkim and other partners for their support in making the event a success.
