Gangtok, May 21: Isha Chettri, a 9th-grade student from Hee-Yangthang Senior Secondary School in Gyalshing district, has been selected for the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Young Scientist Programme (YUVIKA) 2025.
The programme, held from May 19 to 30 at the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) in Hyderabad, aims to promote interest in space science and technology among students. Participants engage with ISRO scientists, visit laboratories, and take part in hands-on projects and training sessions.
Daughter of Yuvraj Chettri and Preeti Maya Chettri, Isha was chosen from thousands of applicants nationwide. Her selection is regarded as a significant achievement by her family, school, and community.
Principal Narayan Basnet and staff congratulated Isha, acknowledging the support provided by teacher Kavita Bista during her preparation.
Isha’s accomplishment is expected to motivate other students in Sikkim to pursue careers in science and research.
