Gangtok, may 24: Leenormit Lepcha, a Class IX student of Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Swayem in Mangan district, has been selected for the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) prestigious Young Scientist Programme (YUVIKA) 2025.
According to an official communication from ISRO, Leenormit will participate in the YUVIKA programme at the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), Hyderabad, from May 13 to May 31, 2025. The programme is designed to foster scientific curiosity among school students and provide them with hands-on exposure to space science and technology.
Her selection marks a significant achievement not only for her but also for EMRS Swayem, which continues to promote quality education among tribal students in remote areas of Sikkim. The Social Welfare Department of Sikkim, under which the school functions, lauded the accomplishment, highlighting it as a testament to the institution’s dedication to nurturing young talent.
