Escalation of dengue infections registered along the Rangpo town of Sikkim stood as a major cause of concern for the councilors and local authorities. In an attempt to prevent further spread of this outbreak, a high level meeting was held on Monday among concerned authorities of Rangpo Nagar Panchayat area.
During the meeting, authorities formed a special strategy, and constituted a task force to deal with the upsurge in concerned mosquito-borne viral infection.
Besides, a separate task force will also be constituted for Rangpo IBM area, which is considered as the dengue hotspot.
It has also decided to form a sanitation monitoring committee in each ward, with locals as it’s key members.
The meeting was attended by Nagar Panchayat president Sanjeev Kumar Khati, vice president Radha Pradhan, councillors Larishna Tamang and Sanju Mangar, Rangpo SDM Milan Rai, Rangpo SDPO Dilip Tamang, Rangpo SHO Sameer Pradhan, MEO Suren Kumar Tamang, Rangpo medical officer Dr. Nikhil Topden, Forest BO along with other line department officials and staff.
Rangpo SDM Milan Rai, after assessing the current scenario emphasized on significance of sanitation and generating awareness among the residents.
Meanwhile, the Nagar Panchayat President Sanjeev Kumar Khati asserted of carrying-out immediate measures, such as – cleaning of drainages with bleach.
It’s pertinent to note that recently, local authorities initiated a field inspection at different wards of Rangpo town, in order to contain the outbreak.
