Sikkim is set to host its first high-altitude supercar rally, featuring 17 of the world’s most prestigious high-performance vehicles, including Lamborghinis and Porsches. The event is part of the Ministry of Defence’s ‘Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan’ initiative aimed at promoting battlefield and border tourism.
The rally will begin on December 12 from Sukna in West Bengal and cover a scenic and challenging route through Siliguri, Gangtok, Cho La, Nathu La, Gnathang, and Zuluk, concluding on December 15. Participants will have the opportunity to drive along some of Sikkim’s most breathtaking high-altitude roads and border landscapes.
Organised by the Mumbai-based Super Car Route Group with support from the Indian Army’s Black Cat Division and the Sikkim government, the self-driven expedition seeks to position Sikkim as a premier destination for car enthusiasts and adventure tourists.
A key highlight of the rally is the traversal of Cho La pass at 5,420 meters, a site of historical significance from the 1967 India-China conflict, now gaining attention for battlefield tourism.
To facilitate the rally, National Highway 10 will have restrictions on heavy vehicle movement between Sevoke (West Bengal) and Rangpo (Sikkim) on December 12 and 15. The highway will be closed for heavy vehicles from 6 am to 12 pm on December 12 and from 3 pm to 9 pm on December 15.
