The Himalayan Zoological Park (HZP) in Bulbuley has welcomed the birth of two red panda cubs on June 15, 2025, marking the first successful red panda births at the park in seven years. The cubs were born to the pair Lucky (II) and Mirak as part of the park’s Red Panda Conservation Breeding Program.
The births come after a long gap caused by disease outbreaks that affected the captive red panda population. Initiated in 1997, the breeding program aims to conserve red pandas and enhance their genetic diversity.
The cubs will remain with their mother and away from public view for over a year. The park continues its efforts to protect and conserve this endangered species.
