Gangtok, Nov 15: Dzongu in North Sikkim marked a new milestone in adventure tourism with the inauguration of its first river rafting destination at Namprikdang on Saturday. The event was led by Minister cum Area MLA Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, who also took the first ride on the river.

The initiative is driven by Rongyong Adventure Dzongu (RAD), a group of local youth aiming to promote outdoor experiences and adventure tourism in the region.

The inauguration was attended by key officials, including Chairman of the Tourism & Civil Aviation Department Sonam Norgay Lachungpa, Adhyaksha Mangan Kado Lepcha, Upadhyaksha Sonam Kipa Bhutia, and Chairperson of the Horticulture Department Ongkit Lepcha.

Minister Lepcha congratulated RAD members and the people of Dzongu, calling the development a significant step forward for tourism in the state. He assured full support for adding new amenities to enhance the destination.

Cultural performances were also organized to honour the dignitaries and guests during the event.
