Amar Subba, popularly known as the Marathon Man of Sikkim, will depart for Malaysia on Tuesday to participate in the 50-kilometre Ultra-Trial du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) Run, scheduled to be held on September 27, 2025, in Taiping, Malaysia. The race is considered one of the toughest ultra-marathon events and attracts participants from around the world.

Organised by UTMB Malaysia, the event will see Subba representing Sikkim (India), carrying forward the spirit of endurance and compassion.

Subba expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister of Sikkim, PS Tamang-Golay, for extending both moral and financial support for the run. He also thanked Bhim Hang Limboo, Minister-cum-Area MLA, and Tshering T Bhutia, Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation, for their support.

Further appreciation was extended to Tenzing W Bhutia, Regional Officer of the Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management Department in Yuksam, as well as friends and well-wishers for their continued encouragement.

Subba’s nomination for the UTMB 50 km comes after his notable performances in previous UTMB events, including the 100-mile run in Pune, Maharashtra, and the 80 km run in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, where he secured third place in both events.
