This year’s edition saw participation from over 4,500 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across the country, evaluated on parameters such as citizen feedback, waste management, innovation, and overall sanitation.

Mangan Nagar Panchayat was honoured for its effective solid waste management, improved sanitation infrastructure, and active community involvement. The award was received by Urban Development Minister Bhoj Raj Rai, Mangan Nagar Panchayat President Norkit Lepcha, Councilor Premkit Lepcha, UDD Commissioner-cum-Secretary Jitendra Singh Raje (IAS), Secretary Yogeeta Rai, SBM(U) Mission Director Jigmi Wangchuk Bhutia, MEO Karzong Bhutia, and other representatives of the panchayat.

Other urban local bodies from Sikkim also showed improved performance in this year’s survey compared to previous years.

During the ceremony, the Union Minister congratulated the awardees and emphasized the government’s goal of building garbage-free and sustainable urban centres. He encouraged other cities to replicate successful cleanliness initiatives. The event was followed by a review meeting on the implementation of urban development schemes with state ministers and officials.
