Agartala, May 01, 2026: In a solemn tribute to a brave soldier who laid down his life in the service of the nation, ‘Sisir Vatika’ was inaugurated at the BSF Frontier Headquarters in Shalbagan, Tripura, on Friday.

The garden was inaugurated in the presence of Alok Kumar Chakraborty, Inspector General of the BSF Tripura Frontier, along with senior officials, BSF personnel, and ex-servicemen.

‘Sisir Batika’ has been dedicated to the memory of Martyr Sisir Kumar Chakraborty, who made the supreme sacrifice while defending the nation in Bandipora, Jammu and Kashmir, in 1999. The initiative stands as a mark of respect for his courage, unwavering dedication, and commitment to duty.

Developed under the theme ‘Tribute in Green’ as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Border Security Force, the memorial garden is intended not only to honour the martyr but also to inspire future generations. It symbolizes gratitude towards all border guards who have sacrificed their lives to safeguard the sovereignty of the nation.

The ceremony was attended by the martyr’s wife, Biplabi Chakraborty, who joined BSF personnel and veterans in paying homage. Floral tributes were offered, and the gathering remembered the valour and service of the fallen soldier with deep respect.
