Six Acres Of Poppy Cultivation Destroyed In Senapati And Kangpokpi

Security forces, along with an Executive Magistrate, destroyed approximately six acres of illegal poppy cultivation on February 13 at the Ngatan Hill range under Senapati Police Station and adjoining areas of Kangpokpi district.

During the operation, eight makeshift huts set up at the plantation sites were burnt and dismantled. Authorities also destroyed three bags of fertilizers, 15 bags of salt, four bundles of irrigation pipes and four spray pumps found at the spot.

Police said one individual identified as Gun Bahadur Rai (59) of Thulochour/Tapon Village, Irang Part II, T Waichong, who was found at the poppy field, was arrested in connection with the case.

Further legal proceedings are underway.
