Agartala, February 27, 2026: Six Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from Tripura made the state proud by participating in the prestigious Saras Aajeevika Mela 2026, held at Gurugram, New Delhi. The 17-day national-level fair witnessed vibrant participation from across the country, with Tripura’s SHGs drawing significant attention for their quality and craftsmanship.

Representing the state under the aegis of Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), the SHG members showcased an impressive range of traditional handicrafts, handloom products, and authentic local delicacies that reflect Tripura’s rich cultural heritage. The stalls set up by the Tripura SHGs received an overwhelming response from visitors throughout the mela, with steady footfall and strong appreciation for the uniqueness and finishing of the products.

Over the course of the event, the six SHGs collectively recorded sales amounting to ₹11.97 lakh, marking a significant achievement for the women entrepreneurs, popularly known as SHG Didis. The strong sales performance underscores the growing national demand for indigenous, handcrafted, and locally produced goods from the North Eastern region.

Officials associated with TRLM termed the participation a “remarkable milestone” for women-led enterprises in Tripura. “The success at Saras Aajeevika Mela reflects the hard work, skill, and entrepreneurial spirit of our SHG Didis. It also highlights the effectiveness of TRLM in providing market exposure and livelihood opportunities to rural women,” an official said.

The achievement is expected to further motivate SHGs across the state, strengthen market linkages, and contribute to sustainable livelihoods and women’s economic empowerment in Tripura.
