Agartala, August 28, 2025: Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Friday underlined that building a well-planned economic infrastructure from the grassroots to urban centres is crucial for making Tripura a self-reliant state. He said the State Finance Commission is playing a central role in driving this transformation.

Speaking at a one-day seminar on the Tripura State Sixth Finance Commission, Roy highlighted that the present government had implemented several welfare initiatives through the Fifth Finance Commission, and similar people-oriented programmes would continue under the Sixth.

“The government’s priority is to ensure overall development in education, health, food, clothing, and housing. Adequate funds will be distributed across all districts, from rural villages to urban areas, so that no welfare project faces disruption. Every initiative must reach the last person in society,” Roy said.

Panchayat Minister Kishor Barman, also addressing the seminar, called for modernization of gram panchayats in keeping with present-day needs. Describing the discussion as “very timely,” he stressed that past achievements and gaps should serve as lessons for the future.

“Our Constitution talks not only about rights but also about duties. Everyone must carry out their responsibilities sincerely. Development should be transparent, need-based, and time-bound, while people must be kept informed at every stage,” Barman said. He further emphasized building stronger unity between the hills and plains for inclusive growth.
