Gangtok, Dec 22: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang announced that the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) will begin preparations for a third consecutive term under “Mission 2029” starting next year.
Speaking at the 17th Rholu Diwas event on Sunday, Tamang urged party leaders and workers to initiate grassroots efforts for the 2029 assembly elections. He reflected on the day’s significance, recalling his 2009 revolt against then-Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling’s SDF government at Rholu Mandir, and noted that his faction, “Golay Khema,” eventually led to the formation of SKM in 2013.
Tamang expressed gratitude to party members for their support during challenging times and highlighted his government’s development initiatives since 2019, aimed at uplifting the poor and marginalized.
The low-key event coincided with the Losoong/Namsoong festival, during which Tamang released SKM’s official 2026 calendar and diary and participated in a puja at Rholu Mandir in the Melli constituency. He also announced that the party’s foundation day celebrations in February 2026 will span three days, featuring youth and women conventions.
