Agartala, May 14, 2025: In a bid to promote tourism in Tripura’s southern region, District Magistrate Mohammad Sajjad P on Wednesday led an administrative delegation to the picturesque Ludhua Tea Gardens in the Sabroom sub-division. The visit marks a significant step in the state’s ongoing efforts to unlock its natural and historical wealth for tourism development.

Accompanied by Sabroom Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shibajyoti Dutta, Assistant Block Development Officer Titu Debbarma, former MLA Shankar Roy and several senior officials, the District Magistrate surveyed the century-old tea estate nestled in the lush greenery of Sabroom.

“The Ludhua Tea Garden, with its serene landscape and rich biodiversity, holds tremendous potential to become a key tourist attraction. Our hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha envisions Tripura as a prominent destination on the country’s tourism map. We are committed to realizing that goal by exploring hidden gems like this,” said District Magistrate Md Sajjad.

As part of the proposed tourism development plan, Ludhua is set to get a dedicated tourist center featuring a waterbody with boating facilities, a scenic roof bridge, and eco-friendly recreational amenities. Officials confirmed that Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury is expected to visit the site soon to assess its tourism viability.

“If this plan materializes, Sabroom will be recognized not just as a border town but as a natural tourism hotspot,” an administrative official remarked.

In addition to the tea gardens, the District Magistrate visited the Eklavya Model School, PM Shri Sabroom Girls’ School Hostel, the Ayurvedic Hospital, and the Baker Stall at Battala. He reviewed the progress of ongoing development projects and instructed officials to expedite work where necessary.

Local residents and officials expressed hope that the Ludhua Tea Gardens could soon symbolize a harmonious blend of Tripura’s heritage and tourism-driven future.
