South Mizoram NCC Holds 10-Day Combined Annual Training Camp At Lunglei

The spirit of discipline and leadership received a fresh boost in South Mizoram as the 10-day Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-90) began on 8 September 2025 at the scenic 2nd Mizoram Armed Police complex, Luangmual, Lunglei District. The camp is being conducted by 2 Mizo Battalion NCC (National Cadet Corps), with the participation of 247 cadets, including Junior Division (JD), Junior Wing (JW), Senior Division (SD) and Senior Wing (SW) cadets.

The camp was formally inaugurated with an opening address by Camp Commandant, Colonel Sagar K. Mohanty, who encouraged cadets to embrace the values of discipline, service and unity that form the core of the NCC.

On the first day, cadets had the privilege of an inspiring session by Colonel Jaswinder Singh Rana, Commanding Officer, 20 Assam Rifles, who delivered a lecture on Operation Sindoor and explained the various modes of entry into the Armed Forces, motivating the young cadets to aspire for careers in the services.

The training day also included drill practice, an introduction to the .22 rifle and map-reading exercises, laying a strong foundation for the days ahead. The day concluded with an impactful motivational lecture delivered by the Superintendent of Police, Lunglei District, J. Lalmuankima, who highlighted the importance of discipline, resilience and community service.

Over the coming days, cadets will undergo rigorous training in drill, weapon handling, adventure activities, leadership and civic responsibilities, alongside expert lectures. The camp promises to shape the next generation of disciplined and dedicated youth, ready to serve the nation in various capacities.
