Agartala, July 30, 2025: In a bid to uphold public service ethics and accountability, the District Magistrate and Collector of South Tripura, Muhammad Sajad P, IAS has issued a stringent directive cautioning government officials against misconduct, discourtesy and neglect in dealing with the public.
In an official order released this week, the DM expressed concern over a rising number of complaints related to rude behaviour, deliberate delays, and arbitrary denial of services across several government offices under the South Tripura District administration. He asserted that such actions not only violate the principles of good governance but also erode public confidence in the administration.
“Disrespectful behaviour or service denial without valid grounds is in clear violation of the Tripura State Public Services Guarantee Act, 2014, and the Tripura Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1988,” the order noted. The DM emphasized that providing timely and courteous public services is a legal obligation, not merely an expectation.
The directive warned that any deviation from professional conduct would attract stern disciplinary measures, including suspension and departmental action. “Such conduct is unbecoming of a government servant,” the order read, adding that the administration would not tolerate lapses in duty or decorum.
To ensure better public grievance handling, the DM has urged citizens to report instances of misconduct through the toll-free number 1077 or via mobile number 6909358819. Additionally, heads of offices have been instructed to sensitize their staff on expected behavioural standards, strictly enforce duty hours, maintain grievance registers, and ensure prompt resolution of complaints.
