State Government Observes Teachers’ Day 2025 In Imphal

The State Level Teachers’ Day Celebration 2025 was held today at the City Convention Centre, Palace Compound, Imphal, jointly organised by the Department of Education (Schools), Higher and Technical Education, SCERT, and Adult Education, Government of Manipur.

Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur, attended the event as Chief Guest. R.K. Dinesh Singh, IAS, Principal Secretary (Higher and Technical Education/SCERT/Adult Education/AR/MAHUD) and Commissioner (Education), presided over the function as President, while Naorem Praveen Singh, IAS, Secretary (Education-S/YAS/OBC & SC/MA), attended as a dais member.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Secretary Dr. Goel said that Teachers’ Day is observed in memory of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India, who believed education to be the foundation of nation-building. He emphasized that teachers are not only transmitters of knowledge but also mentors of character, compassion, and courage. Highlighting the importance of teachers in a society with limited economic and educational opportunities, he said their role becomes even more crucial as they inspire, guide, and build harmony and peace. He further noted that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 envisions an education system that empowers youth to compete globally while thinking ethically, creatively, and sustainably, adding that teachers’ dedication is key to realizing this vision.

On the occasion, Dr. Goel extended congratulations to Macha Sana, Arts Graduate Teacher of Ghari Upper Primary School, who received the National Teacher Award 2025. He also lauded the eight teachers honoured with the State Teachers’ Award 2025, namely, Laikhuram Maria Monteshori of Top Makha Upper Primary School (Residential School, Chingkhei Ching), Rajkumari Umadini Devi of Sagolband Popular Upper Primary School, Seema Subha of Khunthoknganbi Upper Primary School, Ahanthem Gopen Singh of Ningombam Junior High School, Nongmeikapam Dhamen Singh of Samushang Shantipur Upper Primary School, T. Suchitra Devi of Eastern Ideal High School, Moirangthem Shyama Devi of Konjeng Junior High School, and Kansouwa Komong Maring of Machi High School.

The Manipur State Award for Educational Excellence 2025 was also conferred upon eight colleges, namely, Standard College, Waikhom Mani Girls’ College, Manipur College, Kamakhya Pemton College, Don Bosco College, Maram, Kha Manipur College, Imphal College, and Kakching Khunou College.
