In response to the sharp rise in Dengue cases across Manipur, a review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sumant Singh, Commissioner-cum-Secretary to the Governor of Manipur, at the NHM Conference Hall on Monday. The meeting compared the current monthly incidence of Dengue with figures from the previous year to assess the growing trend.

Emphasizing that source reduction remains the most effective strategy for preventing Dengue transmission, the Chair urged intensified efforts with active community and family participation in affected areas.

Following the review, a follow-up meeting was convened by Dr. N. Hemantakumar Singh, Director of Health Services, Manipur, with representatives of local clubs from Imphal’s urban areas. The Director appealed for their collaboration, announcing that volunteers will receive hands-on training in source reduction techniques from the State Urban Health Teams.

Starting today, local club members, ASHAs, Urban Health facility staff, and State Urban Teams will jointly conduct intensive source reduction drives in their respective localities to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and curb the spread of Dengue across the State.
