Agartala, June 01, 2026: The 56th Annual General Body Meeting of the Tripura Veterinary Doctors’ Association (TVDA) marked a significant milestone with the launch of its official magazine, Vikas Barta, aimed at highlighting the association’s work and developments in livestock and animal health.

The programme was held at a private hotel in Agartala on Sunday and was inaugurated by Animal Resources Development, Fisheries and Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das, who ceremonially lit the lamp. The event was attended by key officials including Department Secretary Deepa D. Nair, Joint Director Bimal Krishna Das, and other distinguished guests.

Addressing the media, Minister Das described the publication as an important step towards promoting transparency and dissemination of knowledge within the veterinary sector. He noted that Vikas Barta would serve as a useful platform for professionals and policymakers, offering insights into advancements in animal husbandry, fisheries, and rural livelihood programmes.

Highlighting the role of the association, the Minister said veterinary professionals have been consistently contributing to strengthening the rural economy while also ensuring animal welfare and fulfilling broader social responsibilities.

He also pointed out existing challenges in rural areas, particularly economic constraints affecting access to essential food items such as eggs, milk, and fish. Emphasizing the need for focused efforts, he called for strategies to enhance production and distribution across the state.

The meeting also served as a forum to deliberate on key issues related to veterinary healthcare, professional growth, and measures to improve animal health services. Expressing optimism, the Minister said continued coordination between the government and the association would play a crucial role in addressing supply gaps and improving livelihoods dependent on livestock and fisheries.
