Agartala, January 31, 2025: Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha highlighted the remarkable progress in the state’s healthcare sector while inaugurating the new academic building and student hostel of the North-East Institute of Nursing Science, adjacent to the Amtali Bypass, on Wednesday. He emphasized that the state’s health system has advanced significantly, making it possible to perform complex surgeries, including neurosurgeries, within the state itself.

“Due to the development of our health infrastructure, we have already introduced kidney transplantation, and now, initiatives are being taken for liver and other organ transplants. This will further elevate the quality of healthcare services in Tripura,” said Chief Minister Dr. Saha.

He reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare facilities, stating, “Our government is focused on improving medical education and infrastructure. We have already established two medical colleges, a dental college, a nursing college, and several health education institutions to create a robust healthcare system.”

Acknowledging the critical role of nurses in the healthcare sector, Dr. Saha said, “The reputation of a hospital largely depends on its nursing staff. It is essential to maintain a compassionate relationship between nurses, patients, and their families. Many of our state’s youths have earned recognition in the field of nursing, both nationally and internationally. I believe this institute will produce highly skilled nurses who will contribute significantly to our health sector.”

Dr. Saha also elaborated on various government initiatives, highlighting the construction of super-specialty blocks at Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital with an investment of ₹250 crore. “Trauma centers have been strengthened in every district hospital, and a cardiac care center has been set up in Ambasa. These efforts have significantly reduced the need for referrals to hospitals outside the state,” he added.

Speaking at the event, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar acknowledged the contribution of private organizations in enhancing healthcare infrastructure. “The state government is prioritizing health sector development, and private organizations are also stepping forward. The difference in healthcare facilities compared to the past is evident to the people,” he remarked.

Padma Shri Chittaranjan Maharaj emphasized the importance of the nursing institute, stating, “This institution will provide more opportunities for the youth of Tripura to pursue nursing education. The current government is sincerely working for the advancement of every sector, including healthcare.”

Chairman of the North-East Institute of Nursing Science, Dr. Partha Pratim Saha, also spoke on the occasion, expressing gratitude for the state government’s support. MLA Mina Rani Sarkar and Tripura Central University Registrar Dipak Sharma were present at the event.
