Agartala, July 18, 2025: Tripura’s governance innovations took centre stage at the National Conference on Good Governance Practices held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, with senior IAS officers Tarit Kanti Chakma and Saju Vaheed A. representing the state.

Organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the two-day conference brought together top administrators from across India to present replicable models of transformative governance.

Tarit Kanti Chakma, currently the CEO of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and former DM of Gomati district, addressed the inaugural session. He shared insights into how Gomati district overcame geographical challenges to emerge as a recipient of the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2024.

Chakma highlighted the district’s strategy of leveraging skill development, entrepreneurship training, and grassroots ownership to drive change. Under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, over 7,000 artisans and traditional workers were enrolled, with over 2,200 receiving foundational training and 150 undergoing advanced entrepreneurship training through the SANKALP Phase-II initiative.

Participating in a session on governance innovation, Saju Vaheed A., now Mission Director of Tripura’s National Health Mission and former DM of Dhalai, presented the success story of Ganganagar Block. The block achieved 100% saturation in six of 13 critical KPIs, earning it the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration.

Vaheed showcased initiatives such as the development of a climate-smart village equipped with waste segregation centres, and the role of TRLM in boosting women’s financial empowerment through SHGs, credit access, and community leadership.

The conference concluded with the joint launch of the e-Journal Minimum Government, Maximum Governance by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
