Agartala, February 12, 2026: Techno India University, Tripura (TIUT), in collaboration with SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth), successfully hosted a prestigious Hindustani Vocal Recital on its campus, bringing together students, faculty members, and music enthusiasts for a memorable celebration of India’s classical musical heritage. The programme reflected the university’s continued commitment to cultural and academic enrichment under the visionary leadership of its Chancellor, Prof. Satyam Roychowdhury.
The programme commenced with guests, students, faculty members, and staff assembling at the university’s seminar hall. The distinguished artists and guests were felicitated in recognition of their contributions to art and public life. The recital featured eminent Hindustani classical vocalist Pandit Sajan Mishra Ji, Padma Bhushan and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, accompanied on tabla by internationally acclaimed tabla player Shri Subhajyoti Guha, with Shri Swaraansh Mishra performing as the second vocalist and Pandit Sanatan Goswami providing harmonium accompaniment.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Arunoday Saha, Padma Shri awardee and former Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University, in the esteemed presence of Prof. (Dr.) Ratan Kumar Saha, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Techno India University, along with distinguished guests Dr. P. K. Chakraborty, IAS, Secretary to the Chief Minister of Tripura & Secretary for The Education (Youth Affairs and Sports), Information and Cultural Affairs, and General Administration (Confidential & Cabinet) Departments, Agartala, Tripura, Shri Subrata Chakraborty, Vice-Chairman, State-Level Cultural Advisory Committee, Tripura and Dr. Dibakar Deb, Principal, Techno College of Engineering, Agartala.
A ceremonial lighting of the lamp marked the formal inauguration of the recital, followed by a captivating Hindustani vocal performance. The artists enthralled listeners with the depth, melody, and emotional richness characteristic of India’s classical music tradition. An interactive session followed, during which students actively participated, engaging with the artists and gaining insights into classical music and artistic practice, while also drawing inspiration from the reflections and deliberations shared by the dignitaries. Afterward, the dignitaries visited the iconic Tagore Lounge at the university.
The event provided students with invaluable exposure to India’s classical arts, aligning with SPIC MACAY’s mission to connect young audiences with the nation’s rich cultural traditions. The recital stood as a significant cultural moment for the university community, reinforcing the importance of preserving and promoting classical art forms among youth.
