In a major crackdown on underground militant groups, security forces arrested 10 militants affiliated with various proscribed outfits across multiple districts in Manipur over the past two days, officials said on Saturday.
One active cadre of the proscribed group PREPAK (VC-Red Army) was arrested on Friday from Maharabi under Sekmai Police Station in Imphal West district. The individual, a resident of Kadangband Part-2 Awang Leikai, had reportedly undergone 45 days of basic military training in Myanmar and was operating from there before returning to Manipur.

In Kakching district, two active members of SOREPA were apprehended from the Umathel area under Waikhong Police Station. Both hail from Kakching Khunou Umathel Awang Leikai.
Meanwhile, in Imphal East district, security forces arrested an active cadre of KCP (Apunba) from Moirangpurel Khunou near Itham bridge under Maphou Dam Police Station. Another active member of KCP (Taibangnganba), accused of raising funds for the banned group through extortion, was arrested from Keibi Khullen village. He is a resident of Uyumpok Awang Leikai.
In a separate operation in Imphal West, another KCP (Taibangnganba) cadre was arrested from Phumlou Mamang Leikai.
In Kakching district’s Wabagai area under Hiyanglam Police Station, an active cadre of PREPAK (PRO), also trained in Myanmar, was arrested. He is from Hiyanglam Awang Leikai, and one mobile phone was recovered from his possession.
On Thursday, three active cadres of KCP (PWG), allegedly involved in extortion and issuing threats to the public, shopkeepers, and bank employees in valley areas, were arrested.
In another operation, Manipur Police arrested one individual from Kanglatombi Bazar in Imphal West for illegal possession of arms and ammunition. A 9mm pistol, a magazine, and six rounds of 9mm ammunition were recovered from him.
Authorities said further investigations are ongoing in all cases as part of intensified efforts to curb militant activities in the state.
