Three Arrested In Manipur For Illegal Ammunition Trade: Police

Security forces have arrested three individuals allegedly involved in illegal ammunition trading, police said on Monday.

The three individuals were arrested from Thangmeiband and Khuyathong Polem Leikai areas in Imphal West district for allegedly trading in illegal ammunition. Over 100 rounds of ammunition were recovered from their possession, the police added.

In a separate operation, a self-styled sergeant major of the banned outfit People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Prepak) was arrested from his residence at Kontha Ahallup in Imphal East district on Saturday, July 19. According to the police, the militant had undergone basic military training at Tanal in Myanmar and had recruited a cadre for the outfit in October last year.

In a separate operation, two active members of the proscribed United People’s Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) were apprehended from a market in Kakching district on Sunday, July 20. Police said the duo was involved in extortion activities in the district and adjoining areas.

Investigations are ongoing in all cases.
