Security forces in Manipur have arrested three insurgent cadres linked to different banned underground groups in a series of coordinated operations aimed at curbing extortion networks and militant activities across the state.

The latest arrest occurred on December 2, when security personnel apprehended 25-year-old Laishram Pronanjit Singh, an alleged extortion operative of the UNLF (K), from Uripok Yambem Leikai in Imphal West. A mobile phone believed to have been used for extortion-related communication was seized from his possession.
On December 1, forces in Kakching district detained Thounaojam Subhashchandra Meitei, identified as an active member of the RPF/PLA, from Waikhong Kangsam Leikai, where he had been staying. A mobile phone was also recovered during the operation.
In a separate action the same day, security teams arrested 40-year-old Thounaojam Yaima Meitei, described as an active cadre of the KCP (PWG), from Langthabal Kunja Makha Leikai in Imphal West. Officers seized a mobile phone and a SIM card from the spot.

Officials say the arrests are expected to yield important leads into broader extortion networks and operational links among various insurgent groups operating in the region.
