Three Militants Arrested In Manipur Crackdown; Additional Drug Haul Recovered

Security forces and Manipur Police arrested three active cadres of different proscribed outfits in separate operations on March 31, while also recovering additional contraband linked to a recent drug seizure case.

An active cadre of the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) / People’s Liberation Army (PLA), identified as Nepram Lemba Meitei alias Tomba (24) of Nongada Shantipur Makha Leikai, Imphal East district, was arrested from Khabeisoi area under Heingang Police Station.

In another operation, security forces apprehended an active member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL), Leimapokpam Sanjit Singh alias Naobi (54), from Kongpal Kongkham Leikai under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district.

He is a resident of Khurai Thangjam Leikai.
Meanwhile, Manipur Police arrested an alleged extortionist linked to the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), identified as Zabir Khan (26) alias Rohit of Paobitek Muslim, Imphal West district, from Thongkhong Laxmi Bazar under Wangoi Police Station. A mobile phone along with two SIM cards was seized from his possession.

Separately, in connection with a drug seizure case reported on March 28 from Ngathal ground in Churachandpur district, police recovered an additional 232 soap cases on April 1. With this, the total recovery in the case has risen to 439 soap cases.

Further investigations are underway in all cases, police said.
