Three Militants, Including Woman, Arrested In Manipur; Firearms Recovered

Security forces have arrested three militants affiliated with different proscribed outfits, including a woman, during separate operations in Manipur, police said on Friday.

A woman cadre of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA) was apprehended on Thursday from the Haobam Marak area in Imphal West district. According to a senior police official, she was allegedly involved in extortion activities and had issued threats to government officials and courier service operators in the Imphal area.

On the same day, an active member of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) was arrested from Samurou, also in Imphal West. He was reportedly engaged in extortion across valley areas, and a pistol was recovered from his possession.

In a separate operation on Wednesday, a cadre of the proscribed PREPAK (Pro) was arrested from his residence in the Khurai Thangjam Leikai area in Imphal East district.

Additionally, a person allegedly involved in threatening locals with firearms was arrested from the Mayang Imphal Bengoon Maning area in Imphal West. A pistol and ammunition were seized from him, the official added.

All the arrested individuals are currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway.
