Three PREPAK Cadres Arrested In Separate Operations Across Imphal West, Thoubal

Manipur security forces arrested three active cadres of the proscribed outfit People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) in separate operations across Imphal West and Thoubal districts over the past two days, officials said.

On December 29, a husband-and-wife duo associated with the PREPAK (G-5) was apprehended from their locality under Lamphel police station in Imphal West district. The arrested persons were identified as Konthoujam Chaoba Meitei alias Punshiba (46) of Sagolband Tera Khuraijam Leikai and his wife Kongthoujam (O) Sharmila Leima alias Nanao (43). A mobile phone was seized from the possession of Chaoba Meitei during the arrest.

In a separate operation conducted a day earlier, security personnel arrested an active cadre of PREPAK (PRO) along National Highway-102 near the District Hospital gate under Thoubal police station limits. The arrested individual was identified as Chandam Chandramani Singh alias Ghambir or Tamyanganba (49), a resident of Lairenkabi Maning Leikai in Imphal West district. A mobile phone along with a SIM card was recovered from him.

Officials said the arrests are part of intensified security measures aimed at curbing extortion and militant activities in the state. Further investigation is underway.
