Security forces have arrested four militants, including a top leader of a proscribed outfit, from Bishnupur, Thoubal, and Imphal East districts, police said on Friday.
A self-styled army chief of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Nongdrenkhomba), identified as Moirangthem Biramani Meitei alias Kangleipurel (46), was arrested from Phubala Patton area in Bishnupur district on Thursday.
Two active cadres of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) were arrested on Wednesday from Salungpham Bazar in Thoubal district. Identified as Keisham Wilson Singh alias Dhananjoy (18) and Thokchom Sanathoi Meitei (22), they were allegedly involved in extortion activities in the area. A 9mm pistol with a magazine, a 36 HE hand grenade, and three live 9mm rounds were seized from their possession.
On Thursday, another active cadre of PREPAK (PRO), identified as Telem Naoba Singh (29), was arrested from Khurai Chairenthong in Imphal East district.
In a separate operation near K Geljang in Churachandpur district, security forces recovered an AK rifle with magazine, two other firearms, three detonators, two radio sets, one IED cap, three country-made mortars (pompis), and other items.
