Agartala, July 09, 2025: Train services along the vital Lumding–Badarpur hilly section remain severely disrupted following a massive landslide between Mupa and Dihakho stations under the Lumding division. The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has cancelled and curtailed several train services, worsening travel woes for passengers across Tripura and the Barak Valley.
According to Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of NFR, “A major landslide at KM 51/1-2 has brought train operations to a standstill as debris—including large rocks, soil and vegetation—has completely blocked the tracks. Restoration work is underway with heavy machinery and adequate manpower deployed at the site.”
To assist affected passengers, the railway has set up help desks at Guwahati, Lumding, Silchar, Badarpur and Agartala stations. Passengers are also urged to stay updated on changes through official railway communication channels.
The disruption has led to the cancellation and partial cancellation of multiple long-distance and inter-state trains: Train No. 12503 (SMVT Bengaluru – Agartala) Humsafar Express scheduled for July 11 and Train No. 12515 (Thiruvananthapuram Central – Silchar) Express scheduled for July 13 have been cancelled.
Several trains have been partially cancelled due to the disruption. On July 7, Train No. 14620 (Ferozepur Cantt – Agartala) Express will run only up to Lumding. On July 8, Train No. 13173 (Sealdah – Sabroom) Kanchenjunga Express will also terminate at Lumding. On July 9, Train No. 13176 (Silchar – Sealdah) Kanchenjunga Express will originate from Lumding instead of Silchar.
On July 10, Train No. 12520 (Agartala – Lokmanya Tilak Terminus) Express will start from Kamakhya, Train No. 12508 (Silchar – Thiruvananthapuram Central) Express will start from Guwahati, and Train No. 14619 (Agartala – Ferozepur Cantt) Express will also start from Guwahati.
Rail authorities have appealed to passengers to check schedules before commencing journeys, as further changes are possible depending on restoration progress.
