Agartala, February 16, 2026: In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, seized a huge consignment of Yaba tablets during a joint operation at Gen A. Mungiakami.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, security forces intercepted a TATA truck bearing registration number AS-01T-C7674. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of around 4,50,000 Yaba tablets, estimated to be worth approximately ₹45 crore in the illegal market.
During the operation, one person identified as Hafijul Hoque (42), a resident of Udalguri district in Assam, was apprehended in connection with the seizure.
Officials said that the recovered contraband, along with the arrested accused, has been handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for further investigation and initiation of necessary legal proceedings under relevant laws.
The successful joint operation once again underscores the continued vigilance and coordinated efforts of the Assam Rifles and the DRI in curbing drug trafficking and protecting the region from the growing menace of narcotics.
