Agartala, June 23, 2025: The Tripura government has provided government jobs to 18 families of individuals killed in political violence in the state until 2018, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced at a press conference held at the State Secretariat in Agartala city on Saturday.

Addressing the media personnel, Minister Nath said, “The state government has taken a humanitarian step to support the families who lost their loved ones to political violence. So far, we have received 39 applications, out of which 18 have already been provided government employment.”

A dedicated panel, titled the Scrutiny Committee for Scrutiny of Applications Received for Providing Employment to Members of Family of Persons Kindred in Political Violence, has been formed to process these requests. Minister Nath chairs the committee.

He informed that the committee held its latest meeting on June 19, during which eight new applications were submitted. The committee will soon submit its recommendations to the state government for further action.

“From 1983 to 2018, several individuals lost their lives due to political clashes. This initiative is a step towards supporting their families and upholding the values of democracy,” Nath said.
