Tripura: Admission Notice Issued for Government General Degree Colleges for Academic Year 2025-26

Agartala, May 22, 2025: The Higher Education Department, Government of Tripura today officially announced that admissions to the first year of Government General Degree Colleges for the academic session 2025–26 will be conducted exclusively through the SAMARTH online portal. Offline applications will not be accepted under any circumstances.

According to the notice, students aspiring to pursue B.A, B.Sc, or B.Com (Major & Minor) courses in Tripura’s government colleges must register at https://highereducation.tripura.gov.in or https://dhetripuraadmission.samarth.ac.in/index.php. Each applicant can select up to four collegesand a maximum of two major subjects per college.

“Utmost care should be taken while choosing subjects to ensure alignment with one’s board exam performance and the intake capacity of the college,” the notification stated.

The online application window will remain open from 23rd May to 30th May 2025 until 12 midnight. The complete merit list for the first round will be published on 11th June 2025 at 3 PM. Physical admission for the first round will take place from 13th to 18th June 2025, up to 3 PM. The list of selected candidates for the second round along with the second round of admission will be conducted from 19th to 25th June 2025. The vacancy list after the second round will be published on 27th June 2025 at 3 PM. The tentative date for the commencement of classes is 1st July 2025.

The merit list will be based on subject-wise performance and reservation policies, using an index percentage calculated from the best five subjects in the HS(+2) exam along with the marks in the intended major subject.

Students are advised to retain their login credentials, regularly check the SAMARTH portal, and print copies of their applications. The Higher Education Department emphasized that manual admissions will not be entertained.

For assistance, candidates can contact college-specific helpdesks or nearby Common Service Centres (CSC).

Information and updates on the newly established GDC Ambassa, GDC Kakraban, and GDC Karbook will be available on the Higher Education Department’s official website.

“The entire process has been designed to ensure transparency and ease of access for every aspiring student in Tripura,” a senior official from the Directorate stated.
