Tripura: Assam Rifles, DRI Seize Gold Worth ₹19 Crore in Agartala Operation

Agartala, January 7, 2026: In a major crackdown on illegal activities, Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), seized gold biscuits and unaccounted cash during a joint operation in the Shantipara and Dhaleshwar areas of Agartala.

According to officials, the operation led to the recovery of approximately 14 kilograms of gold biscuits valued at around ₹19 crore, along with Indian currency amounting to ₹2.87 crore. The seizure was made following specific intelligence inputs, underscoring the effectiveness of coordinated surveillance and enforcement measures.

The confiscated gold and currency have been handed over to the DRI for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Authorities stated that the operation reflects the continued vigilance of Assam Rifles and its collaboration with sister agencies in curbing smuggling and maintaining security in the region.
