Agartala, March 06, 2026: The Budget Session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly will commence on March 13 and continue till March 25, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath informed on Friday after a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC).
Speaking to reporters after the meeting at the Assembly premises, Nath said the session has been convened by Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu. The session will begin with the Governor’s address on March 13.
“The House will start with the Governor’s address on the first day. After that, members will pay tribute to the late former Speaker Biswabandhu Sen, following which the House will be adjourned for the day,” Nath said.
The Parliamentary Affairs Minister further stated that Finance Minister Pranajit Singh Roy will present the state budget for the financial year 2026–27 on March 16. Along with the new budget, the revised estimates for the financial year 2025–26 will also be tabled in the Assembly.
“After presenting the budget, the Finance Minister will deliver his budget speech in the House,” Nath said.
He also informed that three important bills are scheduled to be introduced in the Assembly following the budget presentation. These include the Tripura University of Health Sciences Bill, aimed at establishing a medical university in the state, the Technical University Bill, and the Women’s University Bill.
According to the minister, discussion on the Governor’s address will begin on the third day of the session and will continue for two days. The Leader of the Opposition will participate in the budget discussion on March 19.
Detailed deliberations on the budget proposals will take place on March 20, 23 and 24. The budget is expected to be passed on the final day of the session on March 25.
Nath added that a total of nine sitting days have been scheduled during the session to discuss various important issues concerning the state. “The schedule has been finalized with the consent of all members of the Business Advisory Committee,” he said.
