Agartala, September 15, 2025: The Tripura Legislative Assembly will hold its monsoon session from September 19. The two-day session, originally scheduled till September 22, will now conclude on September 23. The decision was taken unanimously at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) on Monday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath said.
Speaking to reporters, Nath informed that the BAC meeting discussed the schedule of the upcoming session. The meeting was attended by ministers Ratan Lal Nath and Sushanta Chowdhury, Chief Whip Kalyani Saha Roy, MLAs Rampada Jamatia, Birajit Sinha, and Animesh Debbarma, as well as Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Pal. Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury was absent, but another CPI(M) representative joined on his behalf.
Nath added that due to Speaker Biswabandhu Sen’s illness, Deputy Speaker Pal presented the business report as per Assembly rules. He further stated that with Durga Puja being the state’s biggest festival, the session will be brief. Moreover, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Tripura on September 22, the House will not sit that day. The business slated for September 22 will be taken up on September 23 instead.
During the session, the government will introduce four bills: the Tripura State Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, the Tripura Public Trusts (Amendment) Bill, the Factories (Amendment) Bill 2025, and the Tripura Shops and Establishments (Seventh Amendment) Bill.
On the opening day, the Question Hour will be followed by the introduction of these bills. Successful ballot winners will also be allowed to present private members’ resolutions, including those by MLAs Dipak Majumdar, Rampada Jamatia, and a CPI(M) representative.
